“Guitar gods” that deliver mesmerizing and epic performances, along with a solid genre-bending fusion of folk and blues band, will headline the Snowmass Chili Pepper & Brew Fest in June. Boulder “newgrass” band Leftover Salmon will perform on Friday, June 5 from 7:00 to 10:30 p.m., and legendary jam band moe., will take the stage on Saturday, June 6 from 7:00 to 10:30 p.m.
“These bands are perfect for the Snowmass Chili Pepper & Brew Fest crowd and we are thrilled to have them both,” said Dave Elkan, Sponsorship and Event Manager for the Snowmass Tourism Office. “There’s nothing better than hot chili, cold microbrew beer and legendary jam bands to kick off a Snowmass summer.”
Both bands have quite a dedicated Colorado fan base. Leftover Salmon was a huge success as the headliner at the first Chili Pepper & Brew Fest and they are returning in a rare reunion appearance for the festival’s 6th year. Formed in Boulder in 1989, Leftover Salmon are the originators of “polyethnic Cajun slamgrass,” a genre which translates to a style of music that blends bluegrass, rock, country, blues, jazz, and Cajun/Zydeco.
The critically acclaimed band moe. is a pre-eminent progressive rock jam band that’s been making great music for 30 years. The band has produced 17 albums and boasts a solid national and international fan base that just keeps growing and growing. Music critics describe their sound as clever, melodic, and refined and their performances as entertaining, mesmerizing, and epic. There’s a good reason that Rolling Stone magazine placed the band’s guitarists Chuck Garvey and Al Schnier among the top 20 new “guitar gods” and why they were both featured in Guitar World and Modern Guitar.
Both bands will play a three-hour festival style performance. “The bands moe. and Leftover Salmon will definitely rock the Snowmass stage for the Chili Pepper & Brew Fest in June,” said Elkan.
The Snowmass Chili Pepper & Brew Fest kicks off the Snowmass summer festival season and draws 8,000 people to Snowmass devoting two days to premier music, chili cook-offs and tastings, and samplings from 50 microbrews, including a new European and exotic beer tasting tent. The International Chili Society holds district and regional championships, while microbrewers face off in a prestigious summer ale competition—all set against a breathtaking mountain backdrop in Snowmass Village.
Concert tickets start at $20 for Friday and $25 for Saturday. A weekend Party Pass, $50, includes all the concerts, chili tastings and microbrew samplings for both Friday and Saturday.
