Wintersköl ™ Date(s): 01/09/09 Time: all day  Details: Winter “sköl,” Aspen's annual “toast to winter,” dates back to a quiet January in 1951 when local Aspenites decided to celebrate Aspen's unique Nordic lifestyle with an eclectic weekend of festivities. The four day celebration features on-mountain activities, a parade, a canine fashion show, a World's Fair, fireworks, and much more. www.aspenchamber.org FRIDAY 1/9/09: 8 a.m.: Anderson Ranch Arts Center's “Wintersculpt” Sculpting continues. Ski Harder. At the Men’s Health Village at Aspen Wintersköl™, Aspen Gondola Plaza. Take some time out to chill at the Men's Health Village. Free and open to everyone. www.menshealth.com 10 a.m.–Noon: Apple Strudel Downhill Aspen Highlands, Apple Strudel Trail. Free to everyone! All participants receive a complimentary piece of apple strudel and a hot chocolate drink at the finish line! 11 a.m.–4:30 p.m.: Wintersköl™ Rail Jam at Snowmass Mountain 11 a.m.–1:45 p.m.: Registration 2-2:45 p.m.: Rail Jam Practice 3-4 p.m.: Rail Jam Competition 4 p.m.: Rail Jam Awards Ceremony & Après Concert 5:30–7:30 p.m.: "Soupsköl" 6th Annual Cook-off Soup contest, downtown Aspen. Restaurants offer a FREE sample of their soup. Public votes for their favorite. 7 p.m.: Fireworks at Snowmass Mountain
