Pilates
Pilates at SMC offers Pilates Mat Classes, Private, Semi-Private, and Special Request Group Privates, as well as Independent.
Pilates is a form of exercise that focuses on working the “Powerhouse” of one’s body; the abdominals, the gluts, and the back extensors, with special emphasis on the transversus and multifidus. This form of exercise works muscles while they are on a full stretch, creating a long, lean, and flexible body. Pilates is excellent for all ages and for all athletic abilities, and is highly recommended to those recovering from back, neck, shoulder, and knee injuries.
All of the instructors are certified in the Pilates Method. Private, Semi-Private, and Group Privates (three or more people) are available through the Pilates Department. These sessions can be booked directly with the instructor, whose name and number is available at the Athletic Club Front Desk. Private sessions are appropriate for all levels and for all abilities. This is an excellent introduction to the world of Pilates.
Pilates Mat Classes
Pilates Mat Classes may be attended by any member or visitor of the Snowmass Club, free of charge. They offer classes for varying levels, from beginners to intermediate/advanced individuals. These classes are not appropriate for those with severe back, neck, or shoulder injuries. Please refer to the Fitness Class Schedule available at the Athletic Club Front Desk for a complete description of classes with times and days they are available.
Independent Pilates Sessions
Before participating independently, individuals should be thoroughly familiar with the Pilates Method, the spring systems on the Reformers, and all exercises they are executing. This session is free of charge. Only the use of the Reformer is available for those participating in this program. Please consult with the Pilates instructor on the premises before beginning your session. It is strongly advised to attend at least 5 private sessions with an instructor before attempting to work on the apparatus alone.
Two-hour cancellation required for all massage and spa services. Failure to cancel appointments 2 hours ahead of time will result in a full charge for services, as your therapist has specifically reserved that time for you. Please call the Athletic Club for reservations.
Yoga
Yoga is an ancient art and science. A powerful means of unraveling deep old patterns in the body to create balance, strength, flexibility and a greater sense of freedom in the body. It increases circulation, releases tension in the muscles, strengthens bone, relieves stress, tones the vital organs and the endocrine system, calms and strengthens the nervous system, tones and balances the digestive and reproductive systems, detoxifies and purifies body and mind, provides education about our bodies and aids in healing imbalances throughout the body. The results are a calm mind, a peaceful and content life and a healthy body.
Yoga Personal Training at the Snowmass Club will provide individual attention to support your personal needs. Our instructors are healers and educators with a wide diversity of skills. We offer quality training from caring teachers in the following traditions: Yoga: In these classes we practice a complete array of poses and movements designed to bring more strength, balance, and flexibility to our body/minds. Practitioners learn how to safely access challenging and fun poses, while working to cultivate more mindfulness and stability in being. Poses are practiced with intelligence and understanding of their application to the whole body, and with attention given to the inter-connectedness of breath, movement, and mindfulness. The classes are designed for all ability levels, with modifications and variations provided to accommodate students of varying skill and flexibility.
